The scent is lightly rose – which is nice. This oil is a thicker oil so it takes less of it and more time to work in a bit. I applied it to my face, neck, and décolleté. It does absorb but does leave somewhat of a coating on my skin. So, I apply this at bedtime after a shower. Not sure how good it would be under makeup although if you have extremely dry skin, it could work well then too. Left my skin feeling and looking great the next morning. I use facial serums on a daily basis. Usually something with collagen or vitamin C, but I decided to try this one for extra moisturizing. I am used to the consistency of my everyday serums, so with this one I applied as much as I usually do, but that was a mistake. This is much thicker, because it is oil, so keep in mind that a little goes a long way. It moisturizes very well and has a pleasant smell, but it is very oily and will require clean up if you use too much.

You know what? I'm updating my original 4 star review to a 5 star. After having used this oil for 2 months now, I love it. My skin literally looks amazing. I think I was hasty with my original review and a month just wasn't long enough to write an accurate review. I use this in the AM and PM after my skin care routine. Then I use a vibrating jade roller to massage it into my skin. My skin has not looked this luminous in a while. It does not clog your pores but gives your skin just the perfect amount of moisture. I'm still not nuts about the "rose" smell, but it doesn't bother me as much anymore. I have acclimated to the smell. The oil provides the perfect amount of moisture to use as a primer before makeup (give it a bit of time before applying make up so the oil can settle into the skin) and it gives me a pretty glow without makeup too. I don't know how I lived without a facial oil before this.While I like this oil as a primer for makeup or for moisturizing before bed, I do not agree with its claims of visibly brightening the skin or helping to even out skin tone. I have been using it for a month and while I do think it softens the skin and provides needed moisture in addition to my skincare routine, I do not think my skin looks more even or brighter. It has a strange smell. It's not unpleasant but it doesn't really smell quite as rose-like as other rose scented things I have used in the past. I don't mind the smell, but I don't love it either. I do like to use this oil as a face primer for make up. I think it helps my makeup last longer and it gives that dewy glow that I prefer over the matte look of powdered down makeup. For $20 I think this is a nice facial oil and a good makeup primer.

3rd + Fairfax Beauty Rose & Vitamin E Facial Oil works great. My face is so soft. I apply it after my moisturizer twice a day. The scent is very light. But the dropper isnt very good. The liquid leaks out.
